We are currently recruiting for a Project Assistant who will work in our Precision Doors & Hardware branch in Baltimore, MD.

Established in 1955 The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC is a privately owned engineering services and specialty distributor-subcontractor. We are the premier provider of architectural hardware, doors, door frames, and related building specialties for non-residential building applications throughout the US. 


The Project Assistant works closely with Project Managers to comply with project schedules and provides essential information to customers and project support in house and in the field. 

Essential Functions

  • Assist the project team in determining materials required on the project in order to meet the construction schedule
  • Communicate effectively with customers verbally and in writing
  • Follow-up correspondence in writing (email primarily)
  • Responsive to returning phone calls in a timely manner
  • Communicate with installation subcontractors
  • Jobsite verification of existing including field measurement
  • Able to determine end user requirements to replace materials
  • Prepare direct entry sales orders
  • Coordinate project submittal process-product data sheets, samples, schedules, etc.
  • Attend project pre-bid meetings and job site visits as required
  • Occasional local travel. A valid driver's license and appropriate transportation required
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 year degree in Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Technology, or equivalent on the job experience
  • Willing to learn Microsoft Products, including but not limited to Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Functional and working knowledge of computers
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and in writing
  • Knowledge of commercial frame, door and hardware products
  • Self-motivated and proactive with ability to multi-task
  • Blue print reading and specification interpretation preferred
  • Detail oriented
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Able to read a tape measure

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
