We are currently recruiting for an IT Support Engineer who will work out of our Winston Salem Corporate Office.  Established in 1955, The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC ("C&B") is a privately-owned technical services business and specialty distributor. C&B is the nation's leading distributor of architectural hardware, doors, doorframes, and related building products for non-residential building applications throughout the United States.

Our Information Technology team, supports more than 1000 employees working nationwide.


You will be part of Cook & Boardman's Infrastructure & Operations team, which is on a mission to delight our coworkers who rely on our internal systems like Desktops, Laptops, Thin Clients, Smartphones, Wi-Fi Access Points, Switches, Routers, Storage Networks, Virtual Servers, and internally developed software tools. We are an operational team that focuses on delivering excellent customer service and being there for our coworkers when they need us most. It's our job to ensure all IT Systems perform as expected, from Desktop to Server, so that our coworkers can accomplish business tasks in a timely and effective manner.

Essential Functions:

  • Receive, prioritize, document, and actively resolve IT support requests.
  • Participate in strategic and continuous improvement projects related to Information Technology.
  • Perform tasks during weekly maintenance window(s).
  • Assist with recurring tasks related to day to day operations of all IT Systems, desktops to servers.
  • Serves as a member of an afterhours support team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of technical support, help desk, or systems administration in a corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Active Directory
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Windows 7, 8, 10 Professional
  • Fundamental understanding of routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Experience supporting other corporate business functions
  • Ability to work as part of a team and provide exceptional customer service
  • Follow-through and persistence is essential.

The following qualifications are preferred, but not mandatory:

  • Working within a multi-location environment using MPLS or BOVPN technologies
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Windows Server (2012, 2008)
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Exchange Server or Exchange Online
  • Demonstrated experience administering VMware vSphere
  • Design, installation, and administration experience with Storage Area Networks (iSCSI/NFS)
  • Demonstrated experience with Corporate Antivirus Systems 
  • Experience completing Windows server backups and recovery
  • Fundamental understanding of disaster recovery and business continuity concepts
