We are currently recruiting for a Shipping Coordinator who will work in our Door Pro Systems branch in Houston, TX.

Summary           

The Shipping Coordinator will verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Coordinate State wide deliveries within the organization to ensure most cost effective/fuel saving process.

Essential Functions

  • Examine contents and compare with records, such as manifests, invoices or orders to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment.
  • Prepare documents such as work orders, bills of lading and shipping orders to route materials.
  • Record shipment data such as weight, charges, space availability and damages or discrepancies for reporting, accounting and recordkeeping purposes.
  • Determine shipping method for materials (including in house fleet) using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates.
  • Deliver or route materials to departments using work devices such as hand-truck, conveyor or sorting bins.
  • Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems such as damages, shortages and nonconformance to specifications.
  • Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery materials.
  • Compute amounts such as space available and shipping, storage and demurrage charges using calculator or price list

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 6 months - 1 year of related experience
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand and walk for much of the day. Ability to lift 5-50 pounds frequently and ability to lift over 50 pounds occasionally. Push/pull up to 100 lbs. frequently.

Work Environment

This job operates in both a professional office and warehouse environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker is subject to possible heavy lifting.
