We are currently recruiting for a Contract Department Assistant to work out of our Precision Doors & Hardware Office in Alexandria, VA

Established in 1955 The Cook & Boardman Group, LLC is a privately owned engineering services and specialty distributor-subcontractor. C&B is the premier provider of architectural hardware, doors, doorframes, and related building specialties for non-residential building applications throughout the US.  C&B's operating units include Cook & Boardman, LLC; Precision Doors & Hardware, LLC; Architectural Building Supply, LLC; Martin Architectural Products; Hollow Metal Specialists; Hardware Consultants; Precision Millwork; Delta Door and Hardware; Pinnacle Door & Hardware; Specialized Architectural Products; Door Pro Systems and RDL Supply. Today, we operate from 33 locations and serve customers across the United States.


Serves as contract department assistant and provides estimating/contract support for the department.  

Job Duties

  • Interact well with others in the contract department as well as with customers.
  • Responsible for scanning completed job files into share drive.
  • Properly file completed quotes.
  • Maintain/Update estimating calendar.
  • Prepare O&M's for completed projects.
  • Download plans & specs to shared drive for estimated projects.
  • Search for additional contractor bid lists in various internet software programs.
  • Maintains Comsense "bid leads" to prevent duplications with other branches.
  • Any additional duties as required

Minimum Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Associates degree preferred
  • Highly motivated and driven
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong PC and systems skills required, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel 
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of proper filing procedures 
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

Physical Demands

This is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; stand; walk; and reach or lift using hands and arms. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
