We are currently recruiting for a Driver who will work in our Cook and Boardman office in Charlotte, North Carolina.

C&B is the nation's leading distributor of architectural hardware, doors, doorframes, and related building products for non-residential building applications throughout the United States.  C&B's operating units include Cook & Boardman, LLC; Precision Doors & Hardware, LLC; Architectural Building Supply, LLC; Martin Architectural Products; Hollow Metal Specialists; Hardware Consultants; Precision Millwork; Delta Door and Hardware; Pinnacle Door & Hardware; Specialized Architectural Products; Door Pro Systems and RDL Supply. Today, C&B operates from 33 locations and serves customers throughout the United States.


Delivers materials to job site, inspects and maintains truck, reports shortages and claims to supervisor and assists in loading and storing of materials.  Not a CDL driver but may require some certification depending on state law.

Essential Functions

  • Performs pre/post inspections of truck and maintains paperwork.  Reports maintenance issues to Supervisor.
  • Checks orders for accuracy.
  • Organizes and secures load.
  • Obtains approval on all loads from supervisor for proper count and condition of load.
  • Assists forklift operators when loading.
  • Delivers and unloads doors, frames, and hardware to customers' specified locations.
  • Records all merchandise that is returned by truck
  • Completes necessary paperwork such as delivery tickets and credit slips
  • Assists in unloading material returned for credit
  • Relays messages sent by customers while on job
  • Assists supervisor, other employees and work areas, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum education – High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree
  • Experience driving trucks for delivery preferred
  • Clean driving record and current operator's license
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to pass yearly DOT physical
  • Forklift certification preferred
  • Good communication skills – Proper use of company issued devices
  • Ability to do arithmetic, read orders, write instructions and complete forms
  • Ability to work closely & cordially with other staff associates

Physical Demands

Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds. Ability to live greater than 50 pounds on occasion.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Work Environment

Will require driving to project sites. May be exposed to variable weather conditions. Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker is subject to frequent heavy lifting.
