We are currently recruiting for a Project Accountant who will work in our Martin Architectural Products branch in Cary, North Carolina.

The Project Accountant completes invoicing and pay applications for the branch in a timely and accurate manner. He/she ensures all required paperwork is in order to ensure proper billing.

Essential Functions

  • Full financial responsibility for billing flow, invoicing and pay applications on projects for selected contractors
  • Verify contract values and schedule of values match correctly with project set up in Advantage at time contract is received. If incorrect, return to appropriate persons for corrections
  • Responsible for verifying pending change orders are being entered properly and at the correct pricing.  Ensure that change orders are not being processed as miscellaneous orders
  • Maintains a log of pending change orders for each project. Ensure that change orders are being actively pursued.
  • Follows up with PM's to resolve questions/issues so billing can be completed by month end
  • Assists PM's and APM's with paperwork and system work as needed
  • Complete invoicing for all shipments for selected contractors
  • Complete monthly Pay Applications for selected contractors ensuring accuracy with invoicing.
  • Completes pay application revisions as requested by the general contractor
  • Ensures clients receive all lien waivers, including second tier lien waivers, in a timely manner
  • Reconcile projects, verifying billing and change orders with monthly pay applications and/or as needed.
  • Close out completed projects in Comsense
  • Researching cause and cleaning up WIP on sales orders and projects
  • Assists AR with questions regarding pay applications and the proper way to apply payments
  • Responds to requests for additional pay applications/information to assist the branch in collection efforts
  • Provides analysis of projects as needed by the Accounting Manager or Branch Manager
  • Scans change orders, pay apps and other pertinent project information into Comsense so they can be accessed by the PM/APM or others as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience in both construction and accounting related positions preferred
  • Self-directed and motivated
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screen

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills required
  • Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products specifically Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are also critical
