We are currently recruiting for an Installation Assistant who will work in our Precision Doors & Hardware unit in Alexandria, Virginia.

The Installation Assistant will work in direct support of the Installer, including hands on training, use of power tools and driving to project sites. This position will involve the installation of architectural grade doors, frames, and hardware to include toilet accessories, toilet partitions, lockers and other Division 10 specialty products.

Essential Functions

  • Work with the Installer at project sites to complete installation correctly and efficiently
  • Train with Installer to learn and understand technology of building materials and proper installation techniques and methods
  • Provide quality customer service
  • Drive to project sites
  • Maintain all equipment in good working order and report any malfunctions to field supervisor
  • Follow company policy and procedures
  • Follow manufacturer direction and warranty requirements when installing products
  • Assist in tracking time and materials as required for each installation project
  • Other duties as assigned by Installer and field supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Detail oriented.
  • Experience using power tools and hand tools
  • Accurate mathematical skills required
  • Clean driving record
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to read and use a measuring tape, level and other required tools for installation
  • Must have excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills
  • Special skills print/plan reading, specification interpretation
  • Ability to learn new skills and follow direction


Physical Demands

Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching.  Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing.  Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.


Work Environment

Will require driving to project sites. May be exposed to variable weather conditions. Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker is subject to frequent heavy lifting.
